Introducing Me: Shinhye

Hey! My name is Shinhye and I’m the Marketing Director for Hearts to Heroes. I work with Lana to spread the word about this amazing organization in the best way possible. Making graphics, writing captions, editing our website: it’s mostly pretty fun, although sometimes stressful.

I started out as a volunteer for Hearts to Heroes, and grew fond of it quickly. Due to a sort of gravitating pull the organization had on me, I decided to try out for board. I didn’t make it the first time, but thankfully made it this year. Although I’m writing this as a newbie, I’m positive that this next year as a board member will help me grow and I hope to become a necessary part of the team. As for my personality, I’d say I’m reserved but social. I’m an introvert that strives most in solitude, but does need to interact with people to socialize with from time to time. I’d say I’m 35% extroverted and 65% introverted. I would also say I’m idealistic, but cynical at the same time: that makes no sense but again, when does anything ever make sense. I wouldn’t say I’m crazy ambitious; I’m actually someone that finds deep contentment in the ordinary and the humble givings of life. But that doesn’t mean I’m not hardworking: I do want to push my limits and see how far I can go, but only to the extent where I don’t lose track of the key components that I think makes life worth living: friends, family, communal connection, and love.

I don’t have a tangible dream either. All I really hope for, you could say it’s my ultimate goal, is to be a content person that stays true to her moral values. As I grow up, I’ve been finding this dream to be more and more idealistic, but where else should idealism exist if not in a dream? As hard as it may be, I do want to chase it. For me, achieving this particular goal would be worth the cost that comes with it.

I think I got a bit serious, so to end it on a more positive note: I hope everyone who’s reading this has at least one happy moment per day. It’s foolish to believe happiness is an achievable constant, but everyone deserves to have it make up a memorable portion of their lives. I hate inspirational quote sounding words, so I won’t go further than that. Have a good day! Thanks for reading this far.
