FAQs

Do you issue community service hours to volunteers?

We do. Our volunteer activities are approved as official community service, and our organization has the authority to sign off hours for you upon request.

I’m not a student. Can I still volunteer?

Absolutely! We want all the help we can get when it comes to volunteering.

I don’t live in Irvine, CA. Can I still volunteer?

Yes, and we encourage you to! Though our pick-up/drop-off days every Round are based in Irvine, we really appreciate our volunteers from afar that still travel the distance to work with us. If you are unable to arrive at our drive-by’s, you can also contact us to use a shipping option.

Can I join a Hearts to Heroes club in the middle of the school year?

Of course! Feel free to drop into any of our club meetings anytime you feel like it. We’d love to meet you!

Should I be concerned about getting COVID-19 from volunteering?

No, we are always very careful about social distancing and our volunteer coordinators are vaccinated. We require everyone to wear a mask. Volunteers only have to arrive for drive-by’s.

What are Rounds?

Our regular volunteer events operate in two-week cycles known as Rounds. You must submit the volunteer signup form every Round that you wish to participate. The signup forms open and close during the first week of every Round.

What are pick-up/drop-off days?

During the second week of each Round, we coordinate a pick-up and drop-off day for volunteer supplies, which resemble contactless drive-by’s. Card-making volunteers only have to arrive to the drop-off, since we do not provide supplies for cards. To minimize contact due to the pandemic, our events are

Do you donate to only healthcare workers?

Nope! We donate to all sorts of people in the community.

What are your plans for Hearts to Heroes after the pandemic?

We plan to continue to grow as an organization and maximize our impact in the community, because sharing love and appreciation with one another is what we care about—and that’s always applicable, pandemic or not. Our volunteering events will likely be a lot more immersive and creative, so look forward to it!

Can I join a Hearts to Heroes club at my school if I don’t volunteer for the Rounds?

We recommend being a part of both, but you may certainly join a club! Bear in mind that you would find the most opportunities for community service directly through our organization. That being said, supplementarily joining a club can be very helpful because we make announcements and occasionally special school-based projects at these meetings. Some Hearts to Heroes clubs have even collaborated with other clubs in the past, including CSF, which allowed participants to receive both service hours and CSF scholarship points for their volunteer work.
