Introducing Me: Haley

Hi! I’m Haley, the Executive Director of Hearts to Heroes. As the Executive Director, I manage and oversee all of our activities, projects, and events. It sounds boring at first, but I love every bit of it. I love meeting with our team of eight every Friday night, I love checking up on the status of each new project we begin, and I LOVE learning more about each person and their extraordinary personalities every single day.

Hearts to Heroes has held a special place in my heart since day one. And I’m not saying this as a Co-founder, I’m saying this as a team member. We’ve become such a family that I continue to grow anxious about the day on which we have to part. It won’t ever be the same without these special individuals all coming together to work on something for the greater good.

But before I get too into my feels, let me introduce myself. I love taking personality quizzes, so there’s no surprise when I say that I’ve taken the Myers-Briggs test 10 too many times. I’m an ENFP, meaning that I thrive off of communication and spending quality time with others. Whether it be small talk or a deeper, more meaningful conversation, I’m here for it all. However, being an ENFP, like any other personality type, comes with its faults. ENFPs long for independence, but that results in a hatred for micromanagement and strict rules. As my parents might put it, I’m “stubborn.”

I truly believe that life is a gift. Counting your blessings, taking advantage of your opportunities, and trying your best to have a positive outlook makes it so much easier to navigate this broken and chaotic world. Even after experiencing a good week, it can easily start to feel like the whole world is coming down on you and plotting your downfall the next day. When I sense this feeling in me, I try to remind myself that everything happens for a reason. I’ll learn and grow from this, and I’ll come out of it as a more knowledgeable and experienced person. Trust the process.

I want to leave you with this self-reflection question: what keeps you going in life? For me, it’s my family, my friends, my mentors, and of course, Hearts to Heroes. But it’s also love, empathy, and gratitude. What about you?
